GREENING OF FORSYTH FOUNTAIN

It is that time of year again and St Patrick's Day in Savannah is fast approaching. Already the city is being covered with a blanket of green...I believe even the air looks green, smells green and may even taste green. It is everywhere and talk of another wonderful St Patty's Day can be heard in almost every coffee shop, restaurant and on every street corner. Everyone is so excited already and the greening of the city has begun. After the rain on Friday delayed the ceremony, another one was quickly scheduled and announced for Saturday morning. What ceremony? The famous "Greening of the Fountain at Forsyth Park"...A tradition in the making for more than 20 years now in Savannah. It initially was started by the city due to vandals greening the fountain years ago with a dye that could have potentially harmed the beautiful statues. So the city decided to take over the task and make sure it is done with a eco-friendly green dye that will in no way harm the statues or fountains it is used in.

Already flowers are in bloom and the weather is absolutely beautiful.

The swans are always one of my favorites to watch...The water just seems to dance as it spurts up and it is truly a magnificent site.

This was a favorite shot of mine from the day. I set my shutter speed really fast to capture and freeze the motion of the water. I simply love that about my Canon Mark II N...it is fast! And I love fassssssst!!!! It can record 8.5 frames-per-second for up to 48 frames in one burst. oh yea!

These are some photos of the different statues...

This was a final photo I took before leaving and although it looked awesome in color...I really liked it better in Black & White. The light hitting the water just looked more powerful in B/W.

Well...Hope you enjoyed these photos. Will keep you all updated on the St Patrick's Day festivities this week.

Have a blessed day~c!
